I have some dark green stuff growing in my tank. Is this another kind of algae? I have had brown and light green growing in my tank but this darker stuff popped up recently. It's right below the panda cory on the driftwood.

Yes, that is algae. Some fish, shrimp, and snails will eat it. You can clean it off or leave it for the tank inhabitants. It can grow out of control but seems to grow slow compared to other algae. I leave some on my driftwood for the snails.

Ok. Thanks. I'll leave it. My corys seem to like grazing on the various types of algae I have growing in my tank.

Looks nice actually

The dark green stuff looks more like BGA (blue green algae) which isn't an algae but a photosynthetic bacterium, cyanobacteria to be exact. You also have, what it appears to be from the photo, green hair algae.

What's your light level and photoperiod duration each day?
