Umm, no. The rhizome has to be exposed. You've got it covered in gravel. Use some string and tie it to a rock or some driftwood instead

Yup. Just as long as the rhizome's exposed, it should be ok.

Here, if you can't tell, it's the thick root thing running through the other finer roots.
