Hi all, my Java Ferns are reproducing new little Java Ferns galore with roots trailing everywhere. How do I seperate these into new plants and how large should they be before I remove them. This is happening in two lowlite tanks with power glo bulbs a 10 and a 20 gallon. Any help appreciated!

i would wait till th enew plants are about 1.5 inch
then you can attach they some where else

if they fall off id put them in like a net or something because you'll lose them. or they'll get killed by the filter

You can just tear the top of the 'mother' leaf off and attack the new plant to something with some fishing wire (PITA to do that, but it's nearly invisible). I don't really know of any other methods of attaching Java ferns.... I usually just stick the new plantlets in a crack or hole in a piece of driftwood. Sometimes it stays in place, sometimes it doesn't.

I don't know about what size the new plantlets should be, but I wait untill I have some (2-3) leaves that are bigger then an inch.

Good luck!
