Hey folks,

I didn't see anything relating to my question so i thought I would post it.

I have recently put a few coconut halves in my aquarium. Each coconut was lightly sanded to remove hairs, lightly sanded the inside and boiled them and rinsed until the water was clear.

I have three holes in the top of each coconut. So i thought i might put java fern on the top. So i pushed the rhizome through each hole so that the plant itself is popped out of the hole while the rhizome is poked through the hole.

The rhizome is not buried under anything, it has water all around it.

Personally i can't see it being an issue with the exception of little to no water movement around the rhizome.

here is what i mean.

Anyone have any thoughts ? (on the topic, not necessarily my mspaint skills!)

As long as the rhizome is getting some light it should work, but what about when it grows? It will not grow well on the underside of the coconut in the dark, and will probably end up attaching itself to the outside eventually anyway, as it branches off toward the light and up through the holes.
