Had to cave today and trim back my jungle Val. I trimmed back most of the leaves ( which were 6 plus feet long ). My question is.... Should I add a bit extra feet to the tank? I hope I didn't screw them up. I trimmed them Dow to about 3 feet.

Do you have fertilizer in the substrate like a root tab, osmocote, plant spike something like that? Or is it just add to the water kind of stuff? If it's like dwarf sag or corkscrew Val, fertilizer at the roots will benefit them. I wouldn't worry about cutting the leaves. It will stop growth for a little bit just to repair the wounds and then go back to making awesome new leaves.

I do both tab and liquid. (I know the liquid isn't all that great). Thank for the input. They were just taking too much light away.

They both work. Just in my experience those types (vals and such) benefit more from nutrients at the roots. Good luck.
