Water quality help

I tested my aquarium water a week ago in preperation to restoke it with mostly angels. Two numbers stuck out to me
PH was at 8-8.5 and KH was 14. The aquarium is moderatly planted so i used Seachems acid buffer to bring both back within acceptable range. after i have used the recommended dose once a day for the last couple of days to not shock the few fish i have in there. after a week
PH is 7.5
kH is still 14

the water i use for water changes comes from a water softner so GH is always 0 but KH is 14 so i use Equilibrium to bring GH up.

Are you able to bypass your water softener for your water change water? If so you might get better results. Most water softeners just replace the hardness with salts, which the fish and plants generally don't appreciate.
