Hi,

I have an Oscar, he doesn't tend to bother the floating plants and currently is too small to tug out the enormous rooted plant I have. I am looking, however, for a large leaf floating plant similar to the amazon frogbit I have floating... Does anybody know of any? I did have a lily in the tank and he tore it apart, bit by bit, so unfortunately a rooted plant with floating leave just won't work.

I'm trying to give my Silver Dollar fish some additional shading.

Thanks,

Tim

Water sprite may work. It doesn't have large leaves, but it grows wide, flat, and bushy as a floating plant.

I would think the SDs will be more destructive to plants than the oscar. Good luck.

I've been really lucky with the SDs so far. They mainly eat cichlid gold which the oscar spits out. The plants are thriving. Thanks Jim :)
