lead weights ?

Forum,

Stupid question of the day.
I just bought a bunch plant with lead weights from a very popular plant/fish store in NY. I forgot to ask the very knowledgeable guy who was picking out plants after asking me questions, if I keep the lead weight band on to keep the plant down. (my clown loach sometimes loosens plants digging around)
Do you keep the weight on or remove it and bury as deep as you can go the plant-(which really has no root system at this point.)
Looks cut and bunched at bottom of plant.
Thanks -Cliff

You should plant each stem separately in the gravel. Remove a few leaves on the bottom of each stem and insert a few inches into the gravel. Roots will grow from the nodes where the leaves were. Whether or not your loach will cooperate is another story, you may have to replant a few several times until they root and he can't knock them out of the gravel.
