O I have a 10g marineland tank thAt has the LEDs but I have went to a more planted tank. All the plants are low light like java fern and java moss but I know I need better lighting just not sure what would fit or brands, I don't want to spend $300 on lighting for a tank that cost less than that, any suggestions?

There's plenty of cheap lighting for a 10gal petco has a t8 hood for forty bucks and even a regular stock hood fitted with two 65k cfls would make for pretty good lighting.

Petsmart has a $20 aqueon hood with 2 cfl fixtures. You can find 13w 6500k compact fluorescents at Wal-Mart for $8 each.
Try and avoid 50/50 bulbs, actinic doesn't help plants much.

So I ordered a nova t5ho lighting and am wondering since it said for saltwater if this will be fine for freshwater plants to grow or do I need to switch out the lights

More than likely your bulbs are 10,000k, actinic, or 50/50 so If they are you will need to change them out.
