Just wondering if anyone knows how well they work, and if they are worth the investment.

Which model? What size tank? And what type of plants do you want to grow?

The plant led 24-30", I have a 56 gallon column with medium/ low light plants

I think that light would be good for medium to high light plants with co2 injection and/or Excel supplementation. Unless you suspend the fixture like a foot above the tank.

PAR values between 80-120 are considered high light.

Your tank is about 24" in height. Substrate a 2 to 3" in substrate. And you're looking at approx. 90 to 95 PAR is my guess... (SOURCE - Technical Details)
