I have hair algae on my micro sword and die off on my compacta argentine sword and ruffle plant.

Fluorite substrate under black sand. Root tabs between bunches of plants. API plant food added weekly. No CO2. 55w x 2 compact fluorescent fixture (one white, one actinic). Light period 9-10 hrs. Now reduced to 4-5 cause of algal growth.

Is it really just co2 is the problem?

Any advice? They aren't getting better.

I wish I could help, but some of my plants look similar. My plants also have the algae problem.

How big is your tank? Are you dosing any fertilizers?

Looks like nutrient deficiency. Check the pic...

wouldnt those bubbles effect the plants since its supplying so much oxygen while depriving them of any type of Co2?

It is actually going to help. The air we breathe is not pure oxygen. It has some CO2 as well. The bubbles will make the tank's CO2 level the same equilibrium with the air which is 7ppm.

What kind of root tabs? I always put one under each sword... holes in the leaves usually indicate a K deficiency. The API Leafzone has K in it, but it doesn't appear that it's getting enough.

You might try breaking up your photoperiod to help with the algae. 4-5 hours is pretty short, 6 is the least I've tried. 4 on, 4 off, 4 on has really worked great in my 125 for keeping algae at bay
