Hi all I am currently considering adding plants to my 75 gallon. But I currently have a sand substrate and would like some help on how to go about doing that. do I need to clear the sand and put in an additional substrate. please help

Depends on the plants. Some will be fine in sand, some you might want to add root tabs into the sand, some will need specialised substrate, and some don't even need to be rooted, just attach them to rocks or driftwood to weight them down.

Link to video recommending some low tech plants that would be fine with sand substrate. I would also throw in Amazon Sword as suitable.

They wont need specialised lighting, fertiliser or CO2. But, they will do better with a half decent light and a fertiliser. The rooted plants (crypts, vals, and amazon swords) will also do better with root tabs in the substrate.
