I have a 29 gal tank and am contemplating getting some plants but not sure where to start. I have read thru some of the articles above, but still a little lost. Right now I my lighting is a Aqueon 8000K Full Spectrum Daylight 17watt T8 bulb. I have pool filter sand as my substrate. What kind of lighting is this considered? What types of plants would do best? Can you point me in a right direction as to for a beginner such as my self?

Thanks!

With that particular light you will have a low light level in your tank. Your best bet for plants to keep would be different types of anubias, java ferns, and java moss.

I basically have the exact same set up. I have water wisteria, java fern and petite nana anubias. They all do well in my 29 gallon without overtaking it. Get some moss balls too to help control any ammonia spikes.
