Hello, I have a 55 gallon "reef" tank that I am soon trying to turn into a planted aquascape but i need some help. The substrate i am planning to use is black fluorite with a covering of black fluorite sand. Would it work? Here is my stocking list:
White Cloud Mountain Minnow x6
Salt and Pepper Cory Catfish x4
Mosquito Rasbora x8
Ember Tetra x8
Cardinal Tetra x8
Twig Catfish x1
Otocinclus Catfish x4
Bolivian Ram x2
Blue Ram x2
Gold Ram x2
Turquoise Rainbowfish x2
Pacific Blue Eye x3
Aphyosemion Gardneri Killifish x2
Snails
Shrimp

My main problem is the plants. What types of plants should I use?

Thanks-Noah :thanks:

The substrate choice likely won't work. The sand will make its way down and the gravel will be left on top.

As for plants, it really depends on what you have equipment wise. What light fixture do you have?

That fish stocking list won't work. Do your research and you will find out why.

Rams will eat all your shrimp, promise.

Depends on how many shrimp you have, how many hiding places there are, and what type of shrimp they are.

I had gbrs with rcs and they didn't put a dent in the population.

i haven't gotten the shrimp yet but it is going to be a aquascape with lots of plants. And the light fixture is a T5 H.O. Dual reef light but i have read that it is plant capable.

As for the shrimp types i am planning to do ghost shrimp, rc shrimp, and other decrative shrimp. I have the blue rams and the Bolivian rams in a 40 gallon as of now and i can keep them there. Also i can have the gold rams in a 10 gallon if necessary.

Only use flourite for substrate and im pretty sure reef light won't grow plants.
