New to forum - safe-t-sorb?

Iím new to aquarium forums and Iím setting up a55 gallon freshwater planted tank. Iím interested in using saf-t-sorb due to cost and look. Does anybody have experience with this product? Iíve heard that cleaning and charging to neutralize water column impacts can be difficult.

Is the safe t sorb the stuff used to absorb water and clean up spills? What precisely are you planning to use it for? Substrate?

Safe-t-sorb

Yes, I would like to try this out as a substrate, possibly capped with eco complete. Iíve heard that it lasts years and has a gravel like look. Iíve also heard that it can be ďchargedĒ with fertilizers and is great with planted tanks
