I recently picked some new plants and just wanted to be sure I planted/attached them correctly.

Anubia: I know the rhizome can't be buried so it the rhizome that longer root?

Java Fern: I used elastic bands to attach it to the rock but I am worried the bands might be too tight on the roots? Can this be harmful?

On the Anubia the rhizome is the green tough stalk that the leaves and roots shoot out from. It looks as though you buried it.

And that java fern might not attach to that rock because its too smooth. Those type of ferns attach better to either driftwood, porous rock, or a non-smooth rock. But I could be wrong and it may latch on.

The elastic bands shouldn't be too tight, because the rhizome can grow over and around the band. However, I would use a more porous or rough-edged stone or rock to grow the anubias on; it would take a long time for that plant to attach to the stone.

Thanks I appreciate the help and found a more holey rock and replanted the other one.
