newbie to planted tanks

I'm redoing my 55gallon cichlid tank. It's play sand and gravel bottom. All I have in it right now is terra cotta pots, I was wondering what's some plants that would grow in my tank fairly easy? Remember I'm new to planted tanks.

Most plants will be destroyed by African chiclids but java fern and anubias would do good tied to driftwood and rock and some bolbitus will work good tied to rocks as well those are all very easy to take care of and are about the only plants you can have in a chiclid tank.
