nitrate question

i've noticed from reading around that you can use things like stump remover for nitrate. can you use other plant ferts like blood meal for the same purpose? i think that miracle gro blood meal is 12-0-0.

Unless it is somehow certified pure, most people tend to avoid it for their fish tanks. I'm pretty sure green light and spectracide stump remover is pure, but even so, it is like 1% something else, but there are substitutes where you can get stuff. I ended up just buying some of the pmdd mix, kh2po4 and the gh mix from Planted Aquarium Fertilizer - Home. It was around 25$.
