Plant ID?

Can anyone tell me what this plant is? It's a native plant I found in our pond. It's very soft and where I found it was on the edge and I could tell it was large last year and died off for the winter. The dead stalks were about a foot tall. These new shoots are about 2-3 inches tall

Yea it's an aquatic plant. It's been there since I was a kid and keeps coming back after the winter is over. I have some taller stems out in the outdoor 55 gallon il take pics of when I get home to get a better view
