I want to switch to live plants but my substrate is gravel. Is there anyway to add a plant substrate without draining tank?

or you could do this which will be alot of work and might be messy

you could pile some of the gravel and leave some empty space and then add there the substrate that u want then cover with rocks and just keep doing that till all the tank has new substrate

I planted mine in gravel and just use root tabs and all is well.

When I get my big tank I'm gonna use dirt :D

I've always had gravel. I have java ferns and moss. Sword plants and one more but I'm not sure of the name. I use Seachem root tabs and flourish when I do pwc.
