Do i have to worry about live plants touching my heater? I have nothing touching it and i feel it upsets the balance and id like to fill that empty space in

Not really. I have plants by the heater, no damage done as of yet.

I have wisteria up against mine. Leaves don't show any damage.

I just uprooted my amazon sword and i was amazed at the root system this thing has put out. Went all the way to the other side of my tank

Depends on the plant. Fragile plants might have issues, but most will not.

I had the heater above my Hygro Corymbosa 'Siamensis'. I couldn't understand why it wouldn't grow any taller and noticed the top stems were rotting and leaves falling off. I decided to move the heater and the plant is now doing well and growing taller.
