Plants Only

I have started a 20 gallon long tank for plants only. I will have a pump to drive the co2 reactor and a heater to knock the edge off.

My questions:

1) What are the rules for ferts with no fish to worry about?
2) Can I just load it up once a week and let it go?
3) Are there any adverse effects from any of the normal ferts when they are at really high rates?

Basically you dose the same way that you normally would for the tank if it had fish, you just need to up your Nitrate and Phosphate dosing to compensate for not having the fish.

I agree, not having any livestock you can basically dose yourself silly without having much to worry about.

You could raise your CO2 without problems - but I'm not sure how much it would help your plants - 30ppm seems like plenty.

After you reach the point where you have "plenty" of nutrients, I would think that light becomes the limiting factor to plant growth.
