1. Do I need to trim my moss at all?

2. What kind of plants should I buy that's easy to maintain and doesn't grow out quickly? (Low to medium light)

1) trip your moss?

2) Java fern, crypts, and anubias are extremely low-light tolerant and almost negligible maintenance.

You can trim your moss if desired. Just decide what length you'd like it to be and trim. It can be a bit messy so have a net handy to catch all the loose stuff.

thats a good idea! i might do that but ill let it grow out to see how long it grows.
