Just need to find out if a powerhead is needed in a lightly planted tank ( soon to be a medium planted tank), and if so what size powerhead and where should it be placed? (top, Bottom or center)

You should probably place a powerhead near the middle of the watercolumn. Try to get a powerhead the provides enough movement till you can see water being pushed at least a foot or two out in your tank. You really only need one to keep water flowing between your plants' leaves. Try to reduce surface agitation if you do use CO2.

Sorry that it took me some time to reply but with the hours that I work no time to enjoy the fourm. So if I was to use a hydro 2 that should be fine? No I am not useing CO2, so should I make sure that I have surface agitation or not? New to the planted tank totaly different from a reef tank
