I have some java moss and I am looking into replacing my fake plants with real I have a stock starter kit light and filter but do I need to fert my java moss or any other soon to be plants

So for java moss would I need to do anything besides light exposure 8-12 hours

I think light is all it really needs. You can use co2 but not necessary. I use liquid co2 cause I have a variety of plants.

There is a lot of plants that can do just fine with your lights, and nothing else. Java moss, java fern, anubias, swords, anacharis, and cryptocoryne all good hardy low light plants. With these plants you just put them in and do nothing. If they grow to much trim them. Google "hardy low light plants" and you will see a lot of options. I have most of these plants and do nothing different from my non planted tank and they grow, look nice and green.
