Question with fert dosing using EI

I have my lights turn on at 2pm so they are on most of the night while I'm home from work to enjoy the fish and plants. I know you're supposed to dose the tank with ferts before lights go on so they are ready to be used. My question is, I leave for work at 8am, is that ok to dose the tank then or is there too much of a gap in time before the lights go on to dose at that time?

I plan to eventually get a controller system for lighting and dosing, but just curious for now. Thanks!
