Questions about amazon sword.

Yesterday I moved my a. Sword to my 29 gallon. It was in my other tank growing out for a few months and got quite large. I pulled it and below the leaves, the 'bulb' if you may, was huge. Can I split it in half and plant it somewhere else? Also, the roots were extremely long. Should I leave them intact or trim them? I feel that if I trim them, the plant will die. Thanks.

Yes you can split the plant and actually trimming the roots some will encourage new root growth.
