Hey, so I've got a few tanks, most of them are for shrimp, or new tanks that are still in the cycling process, and all of them are planted.

I just ordered some MTS's to add to the tanks. At first I was worried that they might compete with my shrimp for food, but I was told they would go well together, and as I am using a very fine "aqua soil" substrate, having the MTS burrow through it and aerate the substrate will be very good imo.

My question is, if I already have shrimp and MTS's, would adding a few freshwater golden clams be too much? What are the benefits of keeping them? I've read that they help clean the tank and they burrow as well. Would I ever see them? And more importantly, would they compete with the shrimp or MTS's for food?

Basically what I'm asking is would they be a good addition to the tank, neutral, or negative.

Also, would assassin snails eat them?

Thanks a lot for any input/advice/experience you can share!
