The plants I have are growing, slowly, but don't seem to want to root, and the combined action of the cories, plecos and loaches eventually uproots them. Are mine particularly slow or unhappy, or is this plant normally slow to root?

No, that's been my experience too. Mine was ridiculously hard to root. Eventually did it...in the tank that only has otos and bettas...after a few months. Now that it's there, it's doing great. Now the chunk in my tank with the pl*co and cories...I'm pretty sure it's floating at the top of the tank at the moment with the other plants the pl*co objected to.
