How much would I dose of this to get 5ppm nitrate in a 10 gallon??

12.5mL or 2.5 capfuls will raise your 10g tank by 5ppm. (I checked their site for the calculations)

yes it does 
but it says use 2.5ml for 40 gallons twice a week or as needed in response to signs of deficiency. but I have otos in my 10 gallon and I don't want the nitrates to go above 5ppm. I could experiment, but I was just wondering if someone else had figured it out so I don't end up overdosing!

Oh but doesn't that calculate nitrogen level? Is that the same as nitrate level?

I'm not sure what form the nitrogen is in with the Excel Nitrogen but it is equivalent to the nitrate level according to their calculator.
