so i have convicts with several plants in my take and the fish have babies so i have no been running the filter because they would be sucked up. Now taking a good look at the tank, there is this brown stuff like mold growing everywhere in the tank. When i get a chance 2morrow i will clean it but should i put like anything in the water?

Run your filter. If necessary, put a sponge or nylon stockings over the intake, but definitely turn your filter back on.

My krib fry would actually rest on the intake to eat micro-organisms and they would not get sucked in.

Oops, on the app, hadn't refreshed..

So, is there any kind of fish i should put in to eat the brown stuff????? Or just clean it and also what is it from?

It looks like diatoms. I wouldn't get fish to get rid of it, since it won't really solve the problem long-term. Diatoms are in new tanks and go away after a couple of months.

The more you try to clean the diatoms off, the more they come back. Just let them be and they will dissipate in time. Everybody gets them, they are not harmful.

Here are some pics

I will get a rubber lip Pleco tomorrow and scrub the sides of the tank

Hahah sorry.... Not a rubber lip.... To big.. What are some small algae eaters under 6in?

Your plants are not dying, they are adjusting. A little Algea cover can make it look like its dying.

If you want to buy fish to solve the problem, which is not always a great idea... but if you have room for a couple small fish, I would recommend the small bristle nose catfish. They do not grow very large and can clean like a champ. Plants, decorations, glass, stones, shells... no material will stop these little janitors!

So I have a little more space..... In my 36 gallon bow I have 2 convicts, a rainbow shark, 1 tiger barb and soon something else to eat the algae.
