There must have been some hitch hikers on my recent plant additions.
I now have about a dozen snails in my tank.
The question I have is should they be removed or will they be good for the tank?

i personally like snails.. even the "pest" snails... theyre fun to watch and clean up excess food. as long as you dont overfeed, you wont have any issues with them though

They are good for your substrate, but they can multiply rapidly. It is really difficult to get rid of them once they are in your tank, especially if you have any other inverts in the tank too. My tank was broken down for about 3-4 months, and the snails lived... when I filled it up with water, I saw snails on the glass the second day.

Loaches will eat them and keep the population in check, or you can just manually remove them as you see them.
