Switching to live plants

My wife is concerned about switching to live plants in our tank. She is concerned that live plants will cause the tank to smell. Is there any truth to this?

I have a lot of live plants and I can assure you and your wife that it does not smell.

From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever.

Some plants will put up an aromatic flower.. but I would call that a fragrance, not a "smell"..

My tank is fully planted and does not smell. I'm curious why she thinks plants will make the tank smell??

Maybe she expects an "earthy" smell. My filters will have that sometimes when I clean them. Everyday, the tanks have no noticeable smell whatsoever. If it is a big concern, just use the ADA CO2 systems with rain forest aroma in the CO2. It should produce a pleasant smell.
