Swordtail - turning brown

My swordtail is starting to turn brown. I have it planted in small aquarium rock and have a 55 watt, 5600 Kelvin light. I have poured liquid plant food in my aquarium. Would plant food tabs help?

i think you mean a sword plant,not tail.

Right, it is not a fish, it is a plant.

ok,thought so.im pretty sure they are heavy root feeders,so root tabs will be appreciated. how long has the tank been setup?it may be diatoms. how long has the sword been inn the tank?

Just put the sword plant in a few days ago. The tank is new. Just finishing up cycling soon. I have no soil, just a rock substrate.

Put a root tab under it, and give it some time to adjust to its new home. Any sign of new growth?
