Tested my phosphate

I ended up getting a reading of 1.0 ppm this is the reading one day after a tank cleaning. I also recieved my Potassium Nitrate from gregwatson's. How should I go about adding the Potassium Nitrate. I know I need to mix up a solution based on chucks aquarium pages. Should I only add enough to raise it a few ppm a day till I reach around 10-15 ppm? How often should I be testing after I reach that level, would every few days be okay?

You need to know your nitrates before hand. I aim for 10ppm in my tanks. Mix the KNO3 as per Chucks instructions and add a little daily until your nitrates reach the desired level. For example, I added 4ml daily until I got my trates from 0 t0 10ppm in a 125 gallon.

Thanks, one more thing is it necessary to refridgerate the KNO3 mixture?
