Post The Journal : Fluval Spec III 2.8 Gallon, Planted Tank

Greetings from Berkeley, CA!!

I have been asking questions here in the past couple of days and have decided to make a journal thread of my small, small tank so, that you all(and me) can keep a record track of what is going on with this tank.



Let's begin!

The Equipment
  • Fluval Spec III 2.8 Gallon
  • Fluval mini CO2 kit (Temporary)
  • Fluval Ceramic 88g-CO2 Diffuser
  • Fluval Plant Stratum
  • 5Lbs CO2 Tank
  • AquaTek California Deluxe CO2 Regulator with Integrated Solenoid (Incoming)
  • Hagen Elite Submersible Preset Heater Mini, 25-Watt
  • ZETLIGHT Nano ZN1702 LED lighting system
  • Ecoxotic EcoPico LED Strips 12K white 3W (2 Strips, 6W total)
  • Seachem Matrix (use about 1/3 lbs)

The Ferts & Chems
  • Flourish (Everyday before lights on)
  • Flourish Excel (Everyday before lights on)
  • SeaChem Prime
  • PPS Pro dry fertilizer (Incoming)



The Live Stocks
  • x3 Ember Tetras (Hyphessobrycon amandae)
  • x2 Amano Shrimps (Caridina multidentata)
  • x1 Ramshorn Snail (Planorbidae)
  • x? Pond Snail (Physidae) Found eggs and let them hatched, pop level unknown

The Plants
  • Driftwood (Not sure where else to put this)
  • Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides)
  • Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus)
  • Dwarf Baby Tears (Hemianthus callitrichoides)
  • Tropica 049 (Staurogyne Repens) Thanks to aqua_chem for pointing this out.
  • Myriophyllum mattogrossense aqua_chem pointed this one our also!

Your wisteria looks more like water sprite to me. And your little plant up front is probably Staurogyne Repens (aka tropica 049).

They've done it again.... putting wrong sticker on the wrong plant. Gah~ my lfs....

It is definitely a water sprite but, then again, both plants are almost identical. Also, I'm quite illiterate about plants my self

and that is definitely Staurogyne Repens, thank you very much for pointing that out!!

I'll update the main post now.
