Tiny little white things ???

Somehow my nano has become infested with millions (probably exaggerating, but there are A LOT) of tiny white things. They crawl, hop and swim all over the place. Max size is 1mm, but many are much smaller than that. They are very hard to photograph, but here are a few attempts:

And a video: http://www.publiclogic.com/fish/tiny_white_things.wmv

??? ??? ???

Looks like they're probably Ostracoda commonly known as seed shrimp. Completely harmless and make a great snack for fish.

Any suggestions on fish that are small enough to live in a 3-gallon long enough to eat most of them, and at the same time won't eat my real shrimp? Right now the tank is just Cherry and Bee Shrimp with Nerites and MTS.

As usual, Purrbox is dead on. My Florida Flag Fish ( Jordanella floridae ) love Ostracods. If you can find any FFF you will have great fun watching them go nuts chasing them

Personally I'd just leave them be. Actually that's exactly what I am doing with the ones that have shown up in my 10 gallon. I think they add an extra interesting element to the tank. This is especially recommended if you're breeding your shrimp, as any fish that is going to eat the Ostracods will also eat your baby shrimp.

Now if your not worried about breeding and you really don't like having the Ostracods in there, then you will want to look at any of the smaller fish that stay under 1". Something that would be especially good are the micro Rasboras.

Well they have been there for quite a while, but they have gotten so numerous now that it sometimes looks like there is a white film on the glass which is really what started to annoy me. I am going to add a small school of Brachygobius aggregatus (Schooling Bumblebee Gobies) and see if they are any help. Seeing as they only get to be .6-inches long, they may be a good candidate for this tank... Just not sure how picky they will be about food. Otherwise I may try some guppies... Micro Rasboras is also a good idea...

The wierdness going on lately..

I noticed one of these little buggers in mine, they dart to and fro.. tried looking them up but couldn't find anything but fish diseases.. meant to ask about this as well.

I'll just leave them as a free snack.. but it's nice to get something ID'd that isn't harmful/deadly..
