I don't have any spots where I can vacuum at all. I just kinda swirl my hose over my glosso and vacuum the driftwood.

I vac mine. I stick it all the way into the gravel except near plants, there I just suck off the stuff on top.

I do not vacuum the substrate in any of my tanks but I don't have gravel and all of my tanks are planted with sand substrate. My filters are powerful enough to suck up most of the waist off of the bottom.

I vac all the stuff off the top of the gravel and stick the sucky thing into the gravel in the open areas.

Sand tanks I occasionally hover above the sand in circles to gently suck out detritus as needed.

My gravel tanks, I vac away from plants.
