Hello, I have a 55g tank with low lighting and I'm interested in upgrading them. I was looking at several DIY setups and was curious if I could use the same housing the T8 ballast is in to install a different ballast. The tanks is 4ft long and it has one T8 on both sides. I'd like to get medium/high light and I was curious the cheapest way to do this. Also what kind of ballast should I shoot for? T5HO? Is it easier to buy a new fixture? Would I have to buy a new hood? Thanks for any help!
