Vortex diffuser?

Guys, and Purrbox,
What do you think of this instead of an AC30/40 powerhead for diffusion? Saw it on DR Foster site. Vortex co2 diffuser. Does it also sit low in tank? only comes with 3' of tube.

55gal tank
Thanks

I imagine that is probably a pretty good diffuser all by itself. I've never used HOB filters before but from what I know, that powerhead would do a much better job of CO2 diffusion than an HOB would. I give it my thumbs up, but definitely wait to hear from the people who know more about CO2 diffusion with HOBs or otherwise

I'm not a true plant guy. I only keep a few that just seem to grow on their own. What are CO2 diffusers? Do they eliminate the need for pressurized CO2 tanks?

Since I haven't tried either method of diffusion. All I can tell you is that people have had good sucess use the AquaClears to diffuse CO2 and that the Vortex Diffuser appears to have a promising design.

theotheragentm - The CO2 diffuser is the method that you use to get the CO2 to dissolve in the tank water. It is necessary whether you are using DIY or Pressurized CO2. There are all sorts of different methods that can be used. I suggest that you check out the CO2 link in the Read This First sticky for more information reguarding CO2.

That is something I have been thinking about doing lately...
Travis, how do you get CO2 all over your tank?
I have my CO2 going through an Aquamedic 1000 reactor, in-line with the output of one of my canister filters,
however when I follow the (very small) CO2 bubbles, they dont travel very far in the tank before going up to the surface.
I am starting to think that my CO2 is only staying in one part of the tank...
I mean, we are talking 6' long tank, and I do have a certain circulation due to having 2 intakes & outlets at each end of the tank,
but still... was thinking about just adding a small powerhead to blow some current into the output where the CO2 is coming out,
the idea being to "push" it all over the place, even if it should cost a little more in CO2. what do you guys think?

Where are you finding the AC 20 or 30? I can't find anything but the 201 or 301.

AC 20 = 201, AC 30 = 301, etc. (same thing, new designation)
