What is my sword doing?

I cut off some leafsright where the leaf meets the stem thinking it would sprout a new leaf, but instead, it's sending another stem out the surface. Is this normal? What will it do when it reaches the light? lol.

Congrats LWB! That is how the plant populates, by sending a runner up to the sky with tiny little plantlets attached.

lol wolf...........mine has a runner and plantlets but they are all submerged......yours is reachin for the stars......it has much more ambition then mine.
