What kind of lighting do I need?

I've gotta research more on lighting, but I am starting a 10g planted tank soon, whats the best light for low-med light plants? Don't want to use co2 if I dont have too.

Most LFS and walmart carry a CFL bulb that is a direct replacement for the socketed bulbs in a standard 10g hood. It's one of the easiest routes I've gone and provides ample lighting.

If you go with a regular spiral CFL just get one in daylight (full spectrum) ~6700k.

Okay, & what should the other one be? Just any light?

I'd get two of them if it's a 2 bulb fixture.

Okay, I knew it was 2 lights, but you said one.. thought maybe there was a good combo to use.

My Petco had a full Aqueon hood for my 10 gallon with a 15w t8 bulb included for $40. It is black and it works really well. They also had a 2 bulb fixture that didn't come with any bulbs but the CFL cost 10 a piece so it was worth it to get the better hood.
