what to do about sword

Ok so my pretty decent size sword is turning yellow on the top leafs and really dark on the bottom leafs. So I guess I wondering is it not getting enough light? I checked water and I dont have nitrates and nitrites and I know it needs it for nutrients and im about ready to take out my filters with carbon just letting the BB move in to the new media so any suggestions? (Not really doin plantedjust want to keep the sword) btw I have just gravel...

They are heavy root feeders. You will need to give it some root tabs.

They release nutrients into your substrate for plants to use. Since sword plants gather most of their nutrients from their roots it's necessary to provide some extra for them.
