Why do my plants bend?

They aren't in the flow of the output so it's not a physical bend. As you can see in the pictures, it just decides to bend to the side.

Also, it creeps along the substrate as you can see below. The same plant is also doing it in another tank.

Rotalas do that when they are in high light. I ditched all my rotala indica because it did that. I tried doing everything to get it to grow up and it wouldn't have any of it.

The idea is that at a certain light intensities, rotalas say to themselves (in a strictly biochemical way, of course) "heck, I've got all the light I can use at this height, might as well grow over instead of up." By doing so, they maximize their foliage's exposure to the light.
