Why those brown/red plants drop their leaves so frequently?

Why those brown/red plants drop their leaves so frequently? I don't know exactly what is the name of those plants, but when I wash them, they not only drop leaves, even the stem also drop off.

hmm... question is... are they supposed to be brown?? j/k man I don't know.. think maybe it might the lights possibly... could their structure not recieve certain light spectrums better like the others?
