African Featherfin Knife Fish

This is my latest acquisition....a young (7") African Featherfin Knife - Papyrocranus afer. It has a lot of growing to do before it reaches its eventual maximum size of about 30"! He was an unexpected find at a LFS that I don't visit that often and they had three of them in a small tank which is why mine is missing a part of its 'tail'. In fact...all three of them were missing the same general body bits and this one was the best of the bunch. Hopefully it will regenerate nicely. The LFS was nice enough to discount the fish because of the damage so instead of paying $29.99 U.S. I only had to pay $14.99.

Sweet! I scooped a couple of those ($12 each, if I remember) a few weeks ago from an LFS....its weird seeing how what one-two overseas wholesalers have can end up all over North America at about the same time.
