Well, I cheated. I got sick and tired of waiting for everything to cycle, so I took a bunch of gravel and the filter out of the 10 gallon and stuffed in my
HOB filter on the 30. Amm is now 0, Nitrites are still barely registering (they'll probably be gone by tomorrow, I'm going to check) I did a 20% water change, and bought my new fish. They are so cool! They started swimming around the rocks I set up for them, and found a bunch of nooks and crannies I didn't even see. They were $9 bucks a pop. I did more research, and thought that 5 would be fine in here, since they are not too aggresive and there are plenty of hiding spots. They have already started rooting around in the sand, and have eaten a bit of food. I need to go out tomorrow and get some plant based food for them. Here's four I managed to catch in one pic:
