Ph and phosphate are different things. From what I know in this hobby we measure ph to see if our water is too acidic or basic. Ph measures from 0-14. 7 is neutral. Anything below that is acidic and anything above that is alkaline. Phosphate from what I understand is something that can cause unwanted algae growth. Phosphate (I think) is a waste product from living things in fish tanks. I hope this is what you wanted to know.
