Kenya tree silver blob

Here is some kind of silver bubbly blob thing about 1/2 cm long and a few millimeters wide sticking out of the top of my Kenya tree. Any idea what it could be? There was some kind of 'pod' there when I bought it but it has morphed into this silver blob thing. The Kenya tree has been fine, I've had it 2-3 weeks....although this morning it is all closed up....but the lights just came on and I think it's done that overnight before (I usually don't see it much in the morning). Should I pull the blob off? Thanks for your help!
