Kids brought home beach crabs

My kids brought some beach crabs home from the beach when my parents took them. What type of set up do they need? What types of crabs are these?

How far is the drive back to the beach?

To maintain for short term, algae and shrimp pellets will do. Give them a bowl of salt water to climb into to wet their gills.

While I can't tell you the spices, these look like typical inter-tidal zone scavenger-detritivores.
